Flower Patch

Happy Thursday!
 

I know it has been almost a week since my last post but my shower gift is still not done!  I only have tonight and tomorrow night to finish so there will most likely not be any stamping getting done tonight either.  The card I am sharing today is a Stamp Camp project from a few weeks ago.  This was the first time I used my Flower Patch stamp set and the Flower Fair Framelits Dies and I love the way it turned out!  I am typically not much of a flower girl but I think this set will see a lot more ink! 

Do you have a favorite color that is your "go to"?  Whether I am shopping for clothing or sitting down to make a card the first color I gravitate towards is always coral.  I am loving the new Calypso Coral Seam Binding.  It makes beautiful bows and the color is so vibrant and happy.  What is your "go to" color?

Mojo Monday Friday

Happy Friday! 

I have been working on a baby shower gift so not much stamping has been getting done this week.  I have been busy crocheting as the shower is next weekend and I still have a long way to go.  I was trying to work on it last night when this happened...

It's pretty hard to crochet when the resident fur ball decides to crawl in your bag and take a nap on top of your yarn.  Not wanting to disturb, (as I knew he had an exhausting day), I put my project on hold and headed to my craft room.  I was finally able to finish the card I had started earlier in the week for this week's Mojo Monday sketch. Here's my card:

Do you ever participate in on-line challenges?  It is a great way to get your mojo going especially when you have none.  For me, the final outcome very seldom ends up looking like the sketch but this one is pretty close.  I did not like the ribbon (or in this case the twine) going all the way across the top of the card...it seemed to cut the card in half for me.  I opted for a tiny bow instead. Why don't you play along?

More Perfect Peacocks

My first glance a the new Stampin' Up! annual catalog just a few short months ago had me stopping in my tracks when I hit page 170.  This beautiful peacock was the first image that jumped off the pages at me and I knew he would be the first thing on my first order.  Combine him with our new Blendability markers and it's a win/win.  The following card is one of the projects we did this past weekend at my Perfect Peacock class:

The peacock was stamped with Versamark ink and heat embossed on Whisper White card stock.  (I cut the peacock's image with my Silhouette but more on that later) I very seldom use non Stampin' Up! products and never for a class but I found this blue background paper at my local big box store and it screamed peacocks to me.  I then stamped and embossed the image a second time on the same printed paper as the background and snipped out his tail. 

I absolutely love the variation the printed paper provided.  The body and flowers came together very quickly with the help of my blendabilities.  He was then popped up with stampin' dimensionals on the oval framelits  background.    

An envelope liner out of the same matching paper was the finishing touch.  I'm not sure who the lucky person is that will find him in their mail box..I may have a hard time parting with this one!

Perfect Peacock

Happy Monday!  I had hoped to get this posted last night but My Perfect Peacock class ran pretty late and I was wiped out afterwards!  We created three beautiful projects with this gorgeous new stamp from the new Stampin’ Up Annual Catalog and our brand new Blendabilities markers.  Here is my first project:

Everyone’s shadow box came out just a little bit differently depending on their color choices and the amount of blending they did with the markers.  Some just colored like they normally would while others took their time and meticulously blended every feather. (If you would like to see all of them you can check out the pics on my Meetup Site Here) 

We also stamped and colored a second image so we could snip a few random feathers and pop dot them to the original piece for some depth.  Clear Rhinestones were colored with the Blendability markers  (one of the best features of these markers, IMO!) and added to the popped up feathers as well as the flower centers and the peacock’s crown. 

 

Paper roses made with the Flower Spiral Die were added to the bottom corner.  (if you look closely you can see the colored rhinestones inside the rose)  I was so thrilled with the way he came out, please stop by tomorrow for the other two class projects!

Tuesday Updates and Weekly Deals

I am sorry this is so late this week! I had a little accident Tuesday morning which has thrown my entire week off.  I was on my way out the door to work Tuesday morning when I noticed no one had put the trash out.  I was annoyed with my husband and son so I was stomping through the garage when I slipped on some water from the air conditioning unit.  I took a nice tumble and messed up my ankle and my left hand.  After icing for an hour I limped my way in to work only to decide a few hours later that the throbbing and shooting pain in my hand required an x-ray.  Nothing broken but I have  a very bruised sprained ankle and a broken blood vessel and a pinched nerve in my hand.  The

ankle is not bothering me at all (except for the limp!) but my hand is killing me.  Apparently when I landed on my hand I broke a blood vessel which created excessive swelling and is pinching a nerve.  I get a shooting pain every time I move my thumb but fortunately I can still type.  I took Tuesday night off from my craft room to keep my ankle and hand on ice but I have my Perfect Peacock Class on Sunday and I need to finish prepping my class...plus we all know you can't keep a stamper down!

Something for Baby

Every time I need a card for a shower or new baby I head to my stampin' stash and come up empty every time.  I do not own one Baby stamp set.  I have been a Stampin' Up Demonstrator for 8 years and have been stamping for many more than that.  I have no idea how an entire category of stamps has eluded me.  I decided to rectify that this year when I saw the Something for Baby set in the new catty.  I saw so many more uses for this than just babies but the baby stuff is pretty darn cute. 

This super cute card was based on a Mojo Monday sketch from a few weeks ago and was one of my recent Stamp Camp projects.  It features the Lullaby Designers Series Paper and I just love the softness of Crisp Cantaloupe and Pistachio Pudding together.  In addition to the Something for Baby Stamp Set I used three different sets of Framelits Dies on this one...Baby's First, Bitty Banners & the Circles Collection.

French Fries and the 4th of July

Happy Monday! 

I had wanted to get this posted over the weekend but that just didn't happen.  I hope you all had a fun, safe 4th of July weekend!  I spent the 4th with my girlfriends enjoying the beach, the (very hot) Florida sun and the many fireworks displays from our strategic beach location. 

I have been experimenting with Stampin' Up!'s new French Fry Box and wanted to make some party favors for the 4th. These were so quick and easy to put together and they are just the right size for a quick party favor that won't break the bank.  I found the red, white and blue Sixlets at my local party store...did you know you could purchase them individually by color to match your party theme? The added bonus is that they are just about french fry size and fit perfectly in my little box.



The pinwheel is from my Paper Pumpkins June kit.  How cute are they?  My French Fry Box is made from Real Red Card Stock and the Night of Navy and Whisper White stamped stars are cut with the new Stars Framelits Dies and stamped with the new Be a Star stamp set.  A tiny bakers twine bow finishes it off.

I needed a matching card and I was inspired by THIS CARD by fellow Demo Susan Itell. The white chevron stripes from the Work of Art stamp set were embossed in White Embossing Powder first so I knew where to place my red and blue stripes.  My Stamp-a-ma-jig came in very handy here.  I used my Star Framelits Dies and my new Eclectic Paper Piercing Pack on my card front along with my Real Red Stampin Write Marker to "stitch" my star outline.  The Happy 4th sentiment is from my severely under-used Memorable Moments stamp set.

Sunsets, Girlfriends and Goody Bags!

I am very fortunate in that I live and work just minutes from the beach.  I am also very fortunate that I have a great group of girlfriends who keep me (relatively) sane.  What happens when you combine the two?  Girls Night Out and sunset on the beach! 

 

What was mostly an overcast and hot and humid Florida summer day turned out to be a beautiful breezy night on the beach.  And, the sunset did not disappoint.  It has been a while since our last GNO and since all of us are stampers and scrappers (well, all but one and she is lovingly referred to as the anti-crafter) I wanted to make a little something for each of the girls....

 





I found this awesome sand pail in the Silhouette on-line store and knew right away I would get a lot of use out of this one.  I am kind of on a red, white and blue kick this week so I decided to stick to the patriotic theme for my pails.  They are filled with Pop Rocks, bubbles (cute little red, white and blue bottles from the $ store) glow stick bracelets, sparklers, and red, white and blue Sixlets and gumballs from the party store.  The best part is the mini bottle of Kinky...a berry infused vodka that just happened to fit in with my red, white and blue theme! 

Of course I had to use my favorite Stampin' Up products too!  The pails are cut from Real Red Card Stock and the cute little shovels and the handle are cut from Night of Navy.  The Beach Babes (also from the Silhouette On-line store) was cut from some scraps of Pool Party Coordinations Textured Card Stock left over form the Occasions 2013 Catalog.  (I love this textured CS...I wish Stampin' Up! would bring it back!) The star on the front of the shovel was cut from our Silver Glimmer Paper using the new Star Framelits Dies.  The handles were covered with our new Maritime Designer Series Paper (some got stripes, some got anchors) which just happens to be part of the Buy 3 Get One FREE paper promotion this month.
