Paper Players Challenge #202

I love sketches and challenges but I rarely have time to participate on a regular basis.  I am really trying to fix that.  Sketches and challenges give you a great starting point (especially if you are suffering from stampers block), and challenge you to step outside your comfort zone. 

 

I have a lot of birthdays in July and wanted to replenish my stash for mailing throughout the month.   This one just so happened to fit the Paper Players Challenge for this week.  (yeah!) Here is my card:

 

This week's challenge is a Tic-Tac-Toe challenge.  What that means is you choose any three card elements in a row across, down or diagonally.  I chose the three across the top row...

Ribbon or Twine:  Pool Party Bakers Twine

Any Shade of Blue:  Pool Party 

A Birthday Sentiment:  Label Love Happy Birthday

How to Blend a Floral Image with Blendabilities

Be the Star You Are!

My two favorite sets in the new Stampin' Up! catalog are Work of Art and Be the Star.  Both are so versatile and can be used for any occasion just by changing up the colors.  But, for this post being so close to the 4th of July, I went with the obvious. 

The "swish" was stamped at an angle in Real Red Classic Ink on a clean Whisper White background.  I then stamped the cluster of small stars three times in Versamark Ink directly on top of the red "swish" and covered with Whisper White Embossing Powder. 

 





The large star was also embossed with Whisper white Embossing Powder but this time on a Night of Navy background.  After embossing, I cut it out with my handy dandy Star Framelits and then scored the center lines and folded on the score lines for a 3-D effect.  (there are 4 stacked Stampin Dimensionals holding this baby up!)

 

Can you see this as a Graduation card in the graduates school colors?  Or how about a Baby card in soft pastels?  Or maybe just a congrats for a job well done.  (I think I will be using this design  again)

Silhouette Sunday

If you asked any of my boys what one of their fondest childhood memories are I think they would all say hanging out in the workshop with Poppie.  My dad had a pretty extensive workshop and my boys were hammering nails into wooden blocks as soon as they could sit up on their own.  My dad always appreciated a homemade gift over something store bought and I immediately thought of him when I saw this image in the Silhouette online store.  My dad isn't with us anymore but my husband is pretty handy when he has to be so this was the perfect Fathers Day card for my hubby. 

  

 

How stinkin' cute is that?  I have to say I didn't mix it up much from the Silhouette Studio file...why mess with perfection right?
