I have a love/hate relationship with Halloween. When we lived in Connecticut I hated it because you had to dress your kids like the Michellin Man underneath their costumes because it was sooooo cold. We would take the kids out for an hour or so until we couldn't stand the cold any more and then go our for pizza. It was usually an early night. When we moved to Florida, we were totally unprepared for our new neighborhood Halloween. It is one HUGE tailgate party with everyone out in their driveways handing out candy, grilling dinner, drinking beer and jello shots and talking to neighbors. Our neighborhood is so well known for our Halloween celebration that we have to hire police to control the crowds, you can't get through the gates without a special pass (even if your drivers license states your current neighborhood address) and for the last two years we have even had helicopter patrols. It is insane.
BUT, I love Halloween colors, Halloween papers, Halloween stamps, & Halloween decorations. (I also love the fact that all three of my boys hate coconut so I get all the discarded Almond Joys!)
I was in my local dollar store the other day scoping out the Halloween section for an upcoming class and I came across this:

Kind of cutesy and not my style but I have been looking for a cupcake stand for my Tricks & Treats Class on September 25th. You all know that cupcakes are hot right now, both for eating and papercrafting! I thought the idea of a witches hat being the center support was great but I needed to clean it up Stampin' Up! style! This is what it looked like when I was done...
So much better IMO! I started with the Frightful Sight Designer Series Paper (DSP) from Stampin' Up! There are still 51 days until Halloween and I have already gone through 4 complete packs of this paper! I simply traced my cupcake stand parts onto my DSP and cut them out. I did use Modge Podge to adhere the DSP as all the pieces had a glossy finish on the sides I wanted to cover. I finished it off with our new Basic Black Scallop Edge Ribbon and a folded Medallion made from yet another print from the Frightful Sight DSP and a stamped bat from my Spooky Bingo Bits stamp set. (my medallion was super quick and easy using the new Simply Scored Scoring Tool from Stampin' Up!...you really need one of these!) Now all it needs is a little extra bling and some cupcakes!
