July Thank You Cards!

I made this card for a workshop and loved it so much it became my thank you card for everyone that placed a Stampin' Up! order in July!  So clean & simple, I love it! 

I used the new In Color Wisteria Wonder and Whisper White Card Stock.  We were in desperate need of a shade of purple and I am so glad Stampin' Up! listened to our pleas!  This shade is really soft and subtle, it would also be great for baby and wedding cards.  This card was super simple and easy to make and took less than 10 minutes with the help of my handy dandy Big Shot! 

I started with a 4 1/4 x 11 inch piece of Whisper White Card Stock folded in half, tent-style.  I ran another piece of Whisper White through my Big Shot using the Elegant Bouquet Embossing Folder and layered that on a slightly larger piece of Wisteria Wonder Card Stock.  The centers of the flowers were highlighted with my Wisteria Wonder Stampin' Write Marker to help them pop off the page just a bit.  I used a 2 1/2 inch square of Wisteria Wonder Card Stock along with my Beautiful Wings Embosslits Die and ran that through my Big Shot.  One tiny scrap of paper and a few cool tools will get you 5 butterflies in different shapes and sizes that come out cut and embossed!  Beautiful.  The sentiment is from the Curly Cute Stamp Set.

Winter Wonderland...

This was hard.  I made this card for a Late Night Stampers Challenge.  The challenge was to create a card using only white with the exception of the greeting or sentiment.  No color.  At all.  Now, for someone who loves bright colors (hello, the walls in my stamp room are Wild Wasabi!) this really was a challenge. 

It was almost as challenging to get a decent picture of an all white card!  Now, this really is much prettier IRL.  I used White Vellum Card Stock and ran it through my Big Shot and my Northern Flurry Embossing Folder. The vellum takes the embossing really well and almost distresses the embossed images.  I used a 2-way Glue Pen over my embossed snowflakes and covered them with Dazzling Diamonds Glitter.  (yes, both me and the cat are very sparkly tonight!) You can see it a little better here...

I backed the Vellum with Whisper White Card Stock to give it some body and wrapped the entire piece with Whisper White 5/8" Satin Ribbon.  It was still pretty boring so I embossed one of the ornament images from the Delightful Decorations Stamp Set on a piece of White Vellum using White Stampin' Emboss Powder and punched it out with my Ornament Punch.  I used a Clear Rhinestone Brad To attach my bow and punched ornament to my card front and used Stampin' Dimensionals to pop the entire piece off of my card base.  (which soo doesn't show up in the photo)

Last, but not least, my little bit of color!  I added the Merry Christmas sentiment from the Christmas Greetings Stamp Set (don't ya just love that font?) in the new In Color Island Indigo. 

Well, this was a fun challenge but I don't think I will be trying it again anytime soon!  I want my color back!  I think I will go pull out that Wild Wasabi...

Mojo Monday!

Wow, its been a long time since I posted a Mojo Monday sketch.  The new Stampin' Up! year just started on July 1st with the release of the new catalog and my New Year's resolution is to try and participate in more challenges, sketches, and contests and to try and stretch my creative comfort zone.  Here is the sketch...

Well, mine came out neither round or square!  I stuck with a traditional size card and adjusted the layers accordingly.  (my two smaller layers are both 2 inches by 3 inches) We have not even thought about going Back to School shopping yet and I seem to have already moved on to Halloween!  Here is my take on the sketch...

I used Old Olive and Cajun Craze Card Stock along with the new Frightful Sight Designer Series Paper.  The stamped image is from the House of Haunts Stamp Set and was heat embossed with Black Stampin' Emboss Powder on White Vellum Card Stock.  Once embossed, I sponged the back side of the vellum with Old Olive, Perfect Plum and Cajun Craze Classic Ink.  I used Old Olive 5/8" Satin Ribbon and an Old Olive Glimmer Brad (from the Brights Collection) for my bow.  The Happy Halloween Sentiment is from the Teeny Tiny Wishes Stamp Set and punched with the Jewelry Tag Punch.  You can click on the name of any of the products mentioned and the link will take you directly to that product in my on-line store.

Stampers 6 Club Meeting

Tomorrow night is my favorite night of the month...my Stampers 6 Club Meeting!  My favorite, most fun group of 6 women get together to stamp, talk, eat and whine about our husbands and kids. (just kidding guys!) Every month it is the hostess choice of what project or technique we will be working on.  This month my Hostess Diana wanted to shake it up a bit and do a single, larger project rather that several smaller ones. 

We will be creating this fun Halloween BOO frame using the new Frightful Sights Designer Series Paper, the new Bingo Bits Stamp Set (LOVE it!) as well as some old favorites Wicked Cool and House of Haunts.  I have provided all the materials to make the insert and the girls are each bringing their own 10x10 frame to put it in.  (It is currently hanging on the wall in my stamp room...yes, my walls are really that green although they are more Wild Wasabi than Lucky Limeaid in IRL!)

Greenhouse Garden In color Note Cards

Greenhouse Garden is one of my favorite Stampin' Up! sets but it does not see ink nearly enough!  I am so glad I have at least another year to get this set dirty.  I wanted to showcase the new 2011-2013 In colors at my recent New Catty Open House and this seemed like the perfect set to create a clean and simple note card that would let the beauty of these 5 new colors stand out.

I inked up the flower image and lightly stamped off some of the color onto a piece of scrap paper.  I then used the center of the flower full strength so you could get an idea of just how fun and vibrant these new colors are.  The medallion background was made with my Big Shot and the new Pennant Die (seriously, you need this die!)
