Last night was my Stamp Club meeting and my hostess Susan requested that we learn the collage technique. Let me start by saying that this Vintage look is soooo not my thing. So, what to do when you have a request for something that is totally outside your comfort zone? You look to your cyber friends for some advice and inspiration.
Thank goodness for my Late Night Stamping friends (a Stampin' Up Yahoo Group) and fellow LNS'er Sandi MacIver. Sandi made this beautiful card a few weeks ago for a Design Team Challenge and her card was the inspiration for this one:

I used the new Vintage Vogue set from the Occasions Mini and the Sale-a-Bration set Vintage Labels. Can I tell you how much it pained me to crimple a perfectly good piece of beautifully stamped card stock? :)
The flower accent was stamped, cut out, popped up and covered with Crystal Effects. If you bend up the petals while the crystal effects is still wet your flower will harden in that position. Cool, huh?
Card stock used is Soft Suede and Old Ivory. Ink colors are Soft Suede & Sahara Sand.
Once I got through the initial trauma of random stamping and crimpling cardstock, I was on a roll and decided to try again using this weeks Mojo Monday sketch:
Not bad for a Virgin Vintage Stamper, huh? I am rather proud of this one and it gave me an excuse to use a few of the pearls from my Pretties Kit that I have been hoarding for ages! I am loving the new Satin Ribbon, it really does add an elegant touch!
I used Vintage Vogue and Vintage Labels again (cuz that's what was already amongst the debris that is my craft table) only this time I switched out the Soft Suede for Bordering Blue. What a difference a little splash of color makes, huh? The "F" in friends is cut out and popped up with dimensionals and I used the Friendly Words Jumbo Wheel for the script on the accent piece. I punched out my Vintage Label with my Scallop Circle Punch, added a cut flower and a half pearl and tada...I am feeling much better about my Vintage/Collage stamping skills. A little more practice and maybe I won't cry quite as much the next time I crumple a perfectly good piece of card stock! (FYI, tears do make the CS a little more pliable and easier to crumple)
Please contact me to see how you can earn the Vintage Label set for FREE during Sale-A-Bration!
Thanks for stoppin' by!
