Mojo Monday & Late Night Stampers Challenge

Yes, I know it's Thursday, actually since it's after midnight I guess now it is actually Friday, but these two cards are both based on this weeks Mojo Monday sketch. This is the first time all week that I have had a chance to get into my stamp room and play. If you have never tried a Mojo Monday Sketch you really should give it a go! It's a great way to get your Mojo going and maybe go a little outside your comfort zone.
I have also recently joined a Stampin' Up! yahoo group called Late Night Stampers. You do not have to be a SU Demo to join and it is a fabulous group of very talented women. They also hold weekly challenges and this weeks challenge is to design a summer themed card. I decided to combine the two challenges and here's what I came up with!
The first one is using Stampin' Up's And Many Mower set from the Occasions Mini Catalog. Don't ya just love this guy? He was colored using SU ClassicInk (Baja Breeze, Close To Cocoa, Mellow Moss, Blush Blossom, Going Gray) and a blender pen. I'm not sure if you can see it in the photo but his golf ball is simply a white brad. The striped panels were popped up for some dimension. The Designer Series Paper is from the Manchester collection.

This next card is very bright and fun for summer! I love all of the fish images from the Just Beachy set (also in the Occasions Mini Catalog). Same sketch, two completely different looks. The Designer Series Paper is from the Washington Apple collection and once again I popped up the panels for some dimension. Rather than use a circle like in the original sketch, I used my Daisy #2 Sizzix Die in So Saffron and Pumpkin Pie. My little fish is double pop-dotted to raise it above all the other layers. I added a googlie eye to finish him off.

Just Beachy

I LOVE the Just Beachy Stamp Set (item 113796, $25.95) from Stampin' Up! The retro van and surfboard are just too cool and those little fish crack me up. The sand pail, popsickle and flops are just added bonuses! A great summer set for scrapping all those beach and water park pics. This set can be found in the Occasions Mini (just click on the Occasions Catalog in the left side-bar for a peek) and there is even a matching Jumbo Wheel!



The first card is made with the stripe from our Washington Apple Designer Series Paper and torn with our Tearing Edge ruler. Did you know that through May 31st all our Designer Series Paper is Buy 3 Get one FREE? Time to stock up for all that summer scrappin'! The card base is Bashful Blue wheeled with the new Lazy Days Jumbo Wheel (item 113837, $8.50). The "gravel" road is from Itty Bitty Backgrounds (item 114996, $14.95) stamped with Close to Cocoa Clasic Ink and the clouds are simply Bashful Blue Classic Ink sponged using the torn edge of a post-it note. Pumpkin Pie Striped Grossgrain Ribbon is tied through the Horizontal Slot Punch. The "Friends" sentiment is from the Lazy Days Wheel and punched with the Small Oval.

The second card is made with our In Colors of Pacific Point Blue, Tangerine Tango and Kiwi Kiss. I am going to miss the Kiwi Kiss when it goes away forever in June but not so much for the Pacific Point and Tangerine. Not my usual style but I must say they both work really well with this fun set! The background was randomly stamped with my favorite images form the set. The fish were then stamped on Whisper White and punched with the 1 1/4" Circle Punch and layered with coordinating CS and the 1 3/8" circle Punch. Stampin' Dimensionals and more Pumpkin Pie Striped Grossgrain give it some dimension!

Congratulations Thomas!

My son Thomas was in a golf tournament today hosted by the Island Club on Marco Island. The members invited some young golfers to play 9 holes paired with some of their club members. There was just one catch...It was called the Hickory Stick Tournament and they had to play with antique wooden clubs.
The members were extremely gracious to their young guests; they were treated to a barbecue dinner after the tournament, all the kids received new golf towels, and they sent the winner home with a new Cleveland Golf bag! Yes, that is Thomas showing off his new bag. He and his partners finished 9 holes with a 34 for first place! WooHoo!

Golf Thank You

My son Thomas was in a Golf Tournament today hosted by the members of a private club on Marco Island. Most of the members were retirees and were paired up with 14 and 15 year old kids. They were so very welcoming to the young golfers they were hosting I wanted Thomas to send a Thank You note to the member that organized the tournament as well as the couple he was paired with.
There was just one problem...No SU Golf! (gasp!)
I had purchased this image from Sparkle & Sprinkle at a CKC convention last year with Thomas in mind. Today was the first time it saw ink! I had this paper from Adornit in my "golf" stash although I did have a hard time cutting it up! (I am a certified hoarder) Fortunately, I think I purchased every piece in the line so I have plenty left over for scrapin'!
The message on the inside of the card reads:

May thy ball lie in green pastures
and not in still waters

How cute is that? BTW, Thomas and his partners finished 2 under for first place! WooHoo!

Ribbon Inspiration

Taking a short break from posting Recipe pages tonight!
I bought this ribbon at Michael's this week because it reminded me of my new Sizzix Daisy Die. I love the classic look of the Black, Red & White together.
The Build a Brad center is stamped in white craft ink on black and I used my new Cuddlebug Daisy border along the bottom. The "Best Wishes" sentiment is from the Oval All set, punched with the Large Oval Punch and layered with the new Scallop Oval.
